What time does the US stock market open?
NYSE and NASDAQ open for regular trading at 9:30 AM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, closing at 4:00 PM ET. Pre-market runs 4:00–9:30 AM ET; after-hours 4:00–8:00 PM ET.
What time do futures markets open?
CME equity index futures (ES, NQ, YM, RTY) open Sunday at 5:00 PM CT (6:00 PM ET) and trade nearly 24 hours through Friday at 4:00 PM CT (5:00 PM ET). A daily maintenance halt runs 4:00–5:00 PM CT Monday through Thursday.
Is the stock market open on holidays?
No. NYSE and NASDAQ close for 10 federal holidays per year: New Year's Day, MLK Day, Presidents' Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Three partial days have an early close at 1:00 PM ET.
What is pre-market and after-hours trading?
Extended trading outside regular hours. Pre-market: 4:00–9:30 AM ET. After-hours: 4:00–8:00 PM ET. Both sessions have lower volume and wider bid-ask spreads. Options do not trade during extended hours.
What timezone are market hours in?
